Day 1

12 Day Southern Kimberley Expedition

9:00 am you will be picked up from your Broome accommodation and transferred to MV Odyssey.  Be welcomed with fellow guests and meet your Skipper and crew. While enjoying a cold drink and a light brunch we cruise northward watching the endless stretch of Cable Beach pass by. Cruising  into the night passing Cape Leveque and across King Sound.

Day 2

Buccaneer Archipelago – Horizontal Falls

Awake to a Kimberley sunrise as we travel through the Buccaneer Archipelago, consisting of more than 800 islands. Over to Crocodile Creek where it’s time to swim in a freshwater hole at the top of the waterfall. Cruise to Talbot Bay and experience the iconic Horizontal Falls with an exhilarating boat ride through the Horizontal Falls, then explore the spectacular geology and scenery of Cyclone Creek. Enjoy an overnight stay in Talbot Bay.

Day 3

Montgomery Reef – Red Cone Creek – Ruby Falls

At Montgomery Reef we take a cruise in Homer for a closer look at the marine life turtles, dugong, crocodiles and bird life. Water cascades from the reef on a falling tide exposing a privileged glimpse of another world!

Journey to Doubtful Bay, passing  the scenic Raft Point and Steep Island arriving into Red Cone Creek.

We board “Homer” for a leisurely cruise and a refreshing swim at the beautiful Ruby Falls.

Day 4

Brecknock Harbour – Kuri Bay – Sheep Island

Today we cruise through Camden Sound to Brecknock Harbour and Kuri Bay, the location of Paspaley Pearls remote base in the Kimberley. Over to Camden Harbour and go ashore at Sheep Island to visit the last resting place of Mary Jane Pascoe. Hear the story of the ill fated settlement of the Camden Harbour Pastoral Association. Cruise past Augustus Island to Hanover Bay for a beach walk and a bonfire before dinner.

Day 5

Prince Regent River – Kings Cascade – Cathedral Falls

The incoming tide will carry us deep into the Prince Regent River today, prepare to get wet on the bow of Odyssey as we nose into the Kings Cascade. Hike to the top of the falls for a swim in the large freshwater swimming hole. After lunch, we board Homer to view the thundering Cathedral Falls and have a refreshing dunk on the bow of Homer. Fishing in the afternoon and overnight in the Prince Regent River.

Day 6

Prince Regent River – Fishing – Camp Creek

Still within the Prince Regent River gives you an opportunity for an early morning fish before visiting the freshwater swimming holes at Camp Creek. After spending time cooling off, it’s back to Odyssey to take the outgoing tide of the Prince Regent. Watch the sunset over St George Basin while enjoying your catch for dinner prepared by your chef.

Day 7

Careening Bay

Early morning journey to Careening Bay Once there we visit the Mermaid Boab tree made famous by Philip Parker King, who charted the Kimberley waters  between 1818-1820. The carpenter recorded their time in this area by engraving a large Boab tree with the letters ‘HMC Mermaid 1820’. We go ashore and spend time understanding the history.

Day 8

Butterfly Gorge – Three Ways

A short hike brings us to a hidden gorge home to many butterflys and a great freshwater swim. After lunch we will head down to three ways for a great chance to land a great fish.

Day 9

Sale River

From Glenelg Waters we will cruise across the bay to the beautiful Sale River. Homer will take us upstream for a closer look at the stunning sandstone cliffs as we wind our way through the narrow gorges toward the Sale River Rain Forest. A bit of exploring to be done then a picnic lunch and a swim before heading back to Odyssey.

Day 10

Dugong Bay

We pass back by Montgomery Reef on our way to Dugong bay for a scenic trip in Homer to explore a majestical part of the Kimberley, complete with many hidden alcoves and rock formations to surprise and delight you. There are many things to see so keep your eyes peeled.

Day 11

Dunvert Island – Yampi Sound – Silica Beach

We will cruise back through the Buccaneer Archipelago to investigate some amazing sandstone formations and early gravesites. After lunch, we will head over to Silica Beach and take a walk on the powdery white sands as well as dipping your toes in the water. As we steam south towards Broome, we enjoy our last Kimberley sunset on board Odyssey.

Day 12

Broome

Day 12 has come all too quickly, enjoy breakfast on board Odyssey watching the endless stretch of Cable Beach pass by. We arrive into the Port of Broome mid-morning where your courtesy bus will be waiting to transfer you to your Broome accommodation.
