Day 1

Broome

Board your vessel at approximately 5:00pm at Broome Jetty for welcome drinks and canapés. Your captain will then give a cruise and safety briefing before we head off, destined for the fabled Kimberley coast. Dinner will be served underway and there is the rest of the evening to relax, familiarize yourself with the boat and to settle into your stateroom. We will be cruising all night.

Day 2

Buccaneer Archipelago

Wake up cruising through King Sound and the Buccaneer Archipelago. Tide permitting, we will collect some legendary Kimberley oysters for the evening entrée. We will continue on for another hour and head toward Crocodile Creek where there is a freshwater swimming pool to relax in while you hear about some of the areas history in the mining industry.

Enjoy the scenery as we cruise through the Koolan Island gap down to Dugong Bay where we can explore numerous hidden waterfalls, swim in freshwater pools and try your hand at fishing. We will spend the evening cruising over to Raft Point and Doubtful Bay.

Day 3

Montgomery Reef & Raft Point

We spend the next two days exploring waterfalls, Aboriginal rock-art, Montgomery Reef and fishing in the Sale River, Ruby Falls and Three Ways. You will wake up under Raft Point where an early morning walk will reveal a fantastic Aboriginal art gallery overlooking the most fantastic panorama of Doubtful Bay. Raft Point is along the ceremonial route of the Aboriginal tribe that inhabited the area. We will learn a little of their history and Aboriginal Dreaming. Back to the boat for a hearty breakfast as we cruise over to Ruby Falls for a freshwater swim and to dangle a few lines for dinner as the sunsets.

Raise the anchor early for a one-hour cruise to Montgomery Reef. On the changing of tides this unusual reef structure creates spectacular cascading waterfalls in middle of the ocean and then disappears again on the rising tide. It is home to turtles, crocodiles and numerous other fish life. Here we will use the dinghies to cruise the many waterways. After experiencing this amazing phenomenon we will visit Langii, and for the really adventurous we can hike to a wet season waterfall out the back of Langii.

The night will be spent cruising to the Prince Regent River.

Day 4

Kings Cascade

Everyone’s favourite – today we tie your vessel up to King’s Cascade waterfall. Here you will hear the harrowing story of Ginger Meadows who was eaten by a crocodile at this site in 1987. We will climb the cascade to swim in the multitude of crystal rock pools and cascades fringed with grass and trees. A truly memorable experience.

On the turn of the tide we will depart from here back down the river to the mouth of Camp Creek and time permitting, hike up to see this waterfall as well. There is a big steam overnight for the Mitchell River.

Day 5

Mitchell River

The mighty Mitchell River – home to that elusive Barramundi! We will spend the day fishing and collecting mud crabs. On the high tide we will head to Surveyors Creek where we can walk up to a beautiful swimming pool and loads of cascading falls.

The evening will be cruising around to the King George Falls.

Day 6

King George Falls

The magnificent King George Falls. These towering twin falls will be in full glory after the wet season and a real sight to behold. We will meander down the river during the morning enjoying all that this amazing panoramic river has to offer. You will spend today trekking; exploring and delighting in the truly fantastic scenery . Everyone will enjoy an afternoon drink as we cruise back out of the river and head to the Berkeley River.

It is a river that has a very shallow entry so our vessels can only enter and exit on the high tide. The Captain will have to plan the day around this important factor.

The weather and the tide will decide whether you head off to Berkeley River at sunset or around 4am the next morning.

Day 7

The Berkeley River

We depart the Berkeley River for a 7-hour steam down the Cambridge Gulf to Wyndham port.

Day 8

Wyndham / Kununurra

Tie off at the Jetty and depart approximately 0830 hours. Air-conditioned transfers to Kununurra are included. We are confident that you will leave us with memory cards full of amazing Kimberley images!
