Day 1

Kununurra

Fly out of Kununurra in the morning heading southwest over the magnificent Kimberley landscape. What an opportunity to see the coast and area you are about to explore onboard your luxury vessel from a different perspective. You will fly onto the Mitchell Plateau where our helicopter will transfer you over the scenic Mitchell Falls to your luxury vessel for the next seven nights! Guests are welcomed aboard where the captain will give an introductory safety briefing. The morning will be spent familiarising you with the boat and waiting for all transfers to finish. There will be activities in the afternoon that may include fishing, walking or crabbing. We will stay here for the evening and explore the mighty Mitchell River in the morning.

Day 2

Mitchell River

Day 3

Rock Art Galleries & Fishing

A relaxing morning onboard your vessel that will most likely start with a fishing excursion to organise the daily lunch buffet. We target a few pelagic species here like Giant Trevally, Queen Fish, Tuna, Mackerel etc. There are also a few places to pick up a Mangrove Jack, Fingermark or Bluebone as well. Just before lunch we will head into the beach for a cool swim and to view a few mysterious Bradshaw galleries. Then back to the vessel for a sumptuous fresh lunch as we cruise further down into the Cove to explore an old DC3 that crashed near Truscott Airbase at the end of WW II.

Enjoy the colours of the sunset as you spend a couple of hours cruising over to the mouth of the Drysdale River.

Day 4

Drysdale River Day

The Drysdale River has a lot of wildlife to experience – from a huge cod that lives under a rock ledge to crocodiles, fish and seabirds. We will take you up to the where the fresh water meets the salt water. There is a chance to cool off in the many waterholes and admire the abundance of beautifully round river rocks. Your skipper will cruise back past the Sir Graham Moore Islands on the way to the magnificent King George River.

Day 5

The King George River & Falls

Your backdrop for breakfast will be the awesome cathedral like gorges cruising down the magnificent King George River. Your vessel will be driven right up to the cascading waterfalls and you can take a shower right on the bow of the boat! You will spend today trekking; exploring and enjoying the fantastic scenery this river has to offer. It is another river that has a very shallow entry that can only be entered and exited on the high tide.

Day 6

Atlantis Bay & Whiskey Creek

Great Escape will cruise for approximately 2 hours to Whiskey Creek and Atlantis Bay while you enjoy a sumptuous breakfast. Atlantis Bay is a secluded little bay that we don’t get to visit often due to the seasonal easterly winds that blow from June to August. We will go ashore for an easy walk to a lovely waterhole decorated along the way with beautiful waterlillies and maybe a walk on the beach on the way out. Whiskey Creek is a tiny little creek that we have had great fun fishing for barramundi on the low tide. Late afternoon will be spent cruising to the spectacular Berkeley River.

Day 7

The Berkeley River

The Berkeley River is a stunning river system that offers a wide variety of entertainment options. The river mouth is very shallow and so our vessel can only enter and exit on the high tide. Your Captain will have to plan the day around this important factor. Once inside the river you will enjoy a beautiful cruise down through the sandstone cliffs to where the fresh meets the salt. There are a number of fresh water creeks that feed the main river and this gives us lots of options for nature walks and a cool off in a beautiful fresh water pools. When the tide is right there is the opportunity to dangle your line, catch that elusive 50 pounder then relax after your big effort for a picnic lunch. In the afternoon we move back down the river and anchor just outside the mouth for the late afternoon. There is a chance for a last minute fish, a sunset wallow in another fresh water lagoon or to just kick back and relax. We depart the Berkeley River for a 7-hour steam down the Cambridge Gulf to Wyndham port.

Day 8

Wyndham / Kununurra

Tie off at the Jetty and depart about 0800 hours. Air-conditioned transfers to Kununurra are included. We are confident you will leave us having had the adventure of a lifetime.
