Itinerary
Schedule based on and around tides and can be done in reverse. Itineraries can be tailored for private group charters.
Day 1
Boarding at Wyndham
We start your Kimberley adventure with a 1 ½ hour airconditioned coach trip from Kununurra to Wyndham. Sit back and relax as you take in the stunning East Kimberley landscape, a taste of what is to come ahead on your cruise. Pass the Cockburn ranges as you make your way down to the historic town of Wyndham. Board the vessel and enjoy getting to know your fellow guests as we steam out of the Cambridge Gulf. |
Day 2
Berkeley River
A day spent out in the tenders exploring the river gorges, waterfalls, creeks and swimming holes. Throw a line in the water with a chance to land that elusive Barramundi. Admire the winding gorge with its towering cliffs and changing colours of the rocks as the sun moves across throughout the day. |
Day 3
King George River
The grander of the King George River will leave an impression sure to last. Relax on the bow as we take an early morning cruise up the river to where it terminates at the King George Falls, towering at 80m high. The afternoon will be spent getting up close & personal with gorge walls before returning to the Kimberley Pearl to enjoy the evening dinner on the top deck under the stars- a truly wonderful & memorable day. |
Day 4
Koolama Bay to Vansittart Bay
Spend the morning reliving some WW2 history in Koolama Bay & Pengali Cove before continuing our journey north around the coast. As we come into Vansittart Bay tides will let us choose from several incredible Wandjina Art sites or chase down some Mangrove jacks in the fishing department, or tangle with some powerful Queenfish and Giant Trevally to see how the arms are holding up! |
Day 5
Vansittart Bay / Swift Bay
Tides permitting, visit a historic plane wreck site or stop off to Jar Island to view Gwion Gwion Art. Relax and take in the scenery as we cruise and explore Swift Bay. Step onto the sandy beach to enjoy the sunset with drinks and nibbles. |
Day 6
Winyalkin Island
Spend the morning collecting the delicious Kimberley Black Lip Oyster, before wetting a line to try your hand at landing a decent pelagic. After lunch, it’s time to view some of the amazing Rock Art that’s on offer in the bay- with Gwion Gwion and Wandjina styles both available. |
Day 7
Hunter River & Careening Bay
Enjoy a tour or try your luck fishing & crabbing in one of the most scenic rivers in the Kimberley, the Hunter River. Cruising out of Prince Frederick Harbour around to Careening Bay, take a walk to the historic ‘Mermaid Tree’. |
Day 8
Prince Regent River
Wake up to the grandeur of your surrounds as we cruise down into the Prince Regent River. Then its’ out in the tenders to explore the tributaries and enjoy the day at Kings Cascades. There is also another opportunity to enjoy a freshwater swim in one of the crystal-clear tiered pools at the top. Back on board for a sunset cruise back out of the river with drinks on the bow to reflect on this incredible place. |
Day 9
Camden Harbour
Cruise through Port George and take in some of the Pearling history on our way to Camden Harbour. Camden Harbour and Sheep Island are both failed settlements attempted by early Europeans. An afternoon excursion out on the tenders awaits. |
Day 10
Montgomery Reef / Doubtful Bay
Visit Montgomery Reef and watch the reef literally rise from the ocean on the dropping tide and reveals all its hidden wonders. When you’re not watching the water runoff the reef, keep and eye out for the marine life below. Explore the endless winding creeks off Doubtful Bay, tides will dictate our afternoon activities but there are plenty of options to choose from! |
Day 11
Collier Bay
Today we cruise to Collier Bay – home of the largest tides in the Southern Hemisphere – a truly amazing spectacle to behold. The day can be spent exploring one of several creek systems, or if you’re feeling more adventurous a climb and swim in a freshwater watering hole. |
Day 12
Talbot Bay (Horizontal Falls)
Awake in the beautiful Talbot bay and prepare to witness a very unique phenomenon. The horizontal falls ride, followed by a very informative and interesting cruise into cyclone creek, and a look at our local “pets” on the way. Enjoy the serenity of the surrounding Bay as the sunsets on your second last evening. Departing on the tide for the Buccaneer Archipelago. |
Day 13
Yampi Sound to onward
Head out early for a try at a pelagic fish, as we Jump in a tenders to explore the Buccaneer Archipelago. Back on board for a lunch cruise out into the islands. Maybe a low tide expedition looking for the Black lipped Oyster, then cruise out into Yampi for the last time. Tide dependant, we will aim to find a lovely beach to enjoy an oyster or two and a drink as the sun sets on our final day. Departing on the evening tide, we continue on into King Sound. |
Day 14
Cygnet Bay
Awake as we lift anchor, and enjoy a breakfast cruise into Cygnet Bay. Coffee and stories on the bow, as the tenders prepare to take you ashore. Our air-conditioned bus awaits to transfer you to Broome. |
*Native Title Access Fee permits are applicable to all passengers. This cost will be confirmed at the beginning of the season and applied to invoices prior to final payment being invoiced and detailed separately for billing purposes as Uunguu Visitor Pass $152 (2022 & 2023) and Dambimangari Permit Fee $90 subject to change.
